Hello everyone,
I have a question abt the recent contributions. Of late i have seen a SHARP drop in contributions. Have we reached a plateau now, or are the contributions not updated live?
Also i have a question abt what the agreement is with QGA. Do they do nothing till we pay the $200k or do they do things in installments (like our immigration lawyers ;)). A lot of non members, but possibly potential contributors keep asking me abt the same. If the board can answer this question i would appreciate it. If you do not want to post that info on here, please send me a Private Message.

we should fax/email letters to lawmakers/senators from every angle. One way of doing this would be drafting a letter with the calculation and a quote " Just for Indians, and chinese nationality for rest of the world = 1year"

How about your client directly sending the agreement to the consulate .
I agree, explore the option of sending the MSA directly to the consulate. If may solve both the problems (query and breach of contract)

I had to reclaim all the days that I was outside the country for my 7th year H1 Extension. I submitted photocopies of all the stampings on my passport. Please note that the passport will be stamped upon arrival here and upon departure/arrival in India. That should be sufficient evidence for proof your valid stay here.

No I dont plan to invoke AC21 anytime soon.
Your assumptions are exactly right. Do you plan to invoke AC21 in near future? I think if you switch to a company who is willing to transfer your H1B, you can transfer it as well. This is what my attorney told me some time back when I was in your stage and can still avoid using EAD.
The purpose of maintaining the backup is for safety. Even if your 485 denied, you can still have some time period left on your H1 and can look for other alternative avenues to be here legally and can restart your GC process as well. Without this H1 backup, you have a very little time to do so.
(Though I got GC now, my H1 is valid till end of 2010 :) )

First of all, this is a wrong forum to went our your points about illegals.. We in IV encourage a legal immigration. But the moment we start excluding people, the list can go on and on.. You start with so called illegasl today (with due sympathy for using that word..), but this exclusion will go on to legals, new doctors, engineers willing to come, settle and work in USA. Remember this is a land of immigrants. If you have any doubt, just look at the new bills introduced by senators to effectively kill H1B program the only legal option for most educated to come to US.
Lets for instance say we want everyone to go back to their own countries.. Where do you want to draw that line to go back, 1980?, 1900? how about 1600??
Grow up and learn to innovate new ways to get employed and live a happy life. Don't try to ruin the very foundation on which this country is built. Trust me there are more patriots in this forum than you could imagine..

Another front to think about :
Recently I have heard that when the company publishes advertisement for the labor when filling for fresh PERM, every time there is a response coming back because of the higher rate of unemployment in the market. The issue is, if any response comes back then the company cannot proceed with the labor and new GC process gets hung.
So, to be on safer side just check on ur skill set before resigning the current job as it should not be readily available in the market.

Be prepared to stay there one night. I went there last week. The whole process was very smooth for all of us who went there to renew their stamps but had to spend the night to get the passports back.

What is in our control is to keep trying and not give up till the very end. And make no mistake, we are doing that every second coz we are in the same boat as you are.

hi beuhler....if i understand your reply correctly, you meant that as long as there is proof that your marraige date(marraige certificate) is prior to gc approval notice...there is 6 months to file for the i485 for the wife even though she may be in india at the time of marraige?

DOS and USCIS are slow. But it would be really helpful if the IV code team can provide some update on our site. I believe over 2.5 hours have passed since the last update regarding some update in 1 hour. I guess we can't do anything if it takes more time but an update always helps! Thank you.

DHS will be rescinding its July 2 update and the initial July Visa Bulletin will take effect for 31 days � i.e., all employment-based green card categories (except for the �Other Workers� category) will be �current� and CIS will accept applications through August 17.

Priority date is used only for filing the I-485. Once we filed the I-485, GC is provided based on the Receipt date of I-485 if the Visas are available after review
