When is the next congress session? is it in Nov/Dec (the so called lame-duck session). I am wondering about chances of having some immigration measures during that session. Being a lame-duck session, do congressmen can take up a serious measure like immigration for discussion (either CIR or SKIL)? If not - is it possible to introduce some highly desirable stop-gap measures like: ability to apply for 485 during retrogession; recapturing the unused visa numbers from previous years with soft country limits (as is done a few years back); and faster backlog reduction at BEC�s. In short I am wondering about our strategy for next 4-5 months; and is there a hope - however small it maybe � hope of getting something done this year; Or our only hope is with next congress?

Guys,
VISA BULLETIN FOR JUNE 2009 sets back EB2 priority back to 01JAN00.
Some thing needs to be done. The easist will be not counting ebdependents in ebquota. This should be very easy. There is no INA law linking ebquota with ebdependents.
I need IV Core help for this.

depression is created by anxiety and hopelessness.
I am also like many others, suffering from GC related depression. After reading the posts, now I feel more comfortable that I am not alone:)
Two steps I wish to take: (1) Not to think about getting GC any more. Whether I am anxious or not, it will take its own time and let me develop the habit of patiently waiting (2) Have a back-up plan ready.

I am not sure what the writer is trying to say.
In my field we try to hire the best applicant for the job whether American, European or Asian or from elsewhere does not matter. Otherwise you get a bunch that do not know how to convert units and crash things ... let me not name them.
Transfers are for people to change jobs. I have done it. My employer(s) do(did) it all the time.
What do you propose? Keep waiting for green cards 10-15yrs without knowing if it will be approved in the end.
H1B is for labor shortage. If there is an abuse then the govt needs to crack down. If the laws come short, then better laws can be crafted.

Fragomen made a lot of oise regarding immigration. In this country you make noise people look at what you are doing and figure out a way to make you shut up. Now; DOL has figured it out. they are sending second audit requests and people are scrambling trying to figure out wha to do. Do you not think that these companies are going to pause in filing labors for people going forward due to the additional hassle and the bad publicity if their labors do get denied?

By does not allow to work, I meant, restricted in taking other opportunities that the person might be eligible to take. Even with AC-21, one is restricted to the field in which one originally applied for EB visa. Actually, because it is indefinite, it makes the case stronger that these people are here indefinitely and so should not be restricted in employment opportunities. Either the US Consulate got the EB-3 India date wrong or there was a typo in the Oct Visa Bulletin. I wish/hope there was a typo in the bulletin and Mumbai consulate got it right....Cut Off Dates- Consulate General of the United States Mumbai, India (http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/cut_off_dates.html)

Please whats all these arguments about? MS from the states, BS + 10 years experience etc. Please we don't need all these. There are people that come to the states and dont even pay a dime in tuition instead they even get paid - in the form of research assistanships and scholarships.
Whatever the case, it is not fair to come to the US work for a long period of time and then get thrown out (say after 6 years) like the H1B visa.
What we need to concentrate our energy and efforts on is for congress to create a PATH for SELF SPONSORSHIP of GCs. For example, if u have lived LEGALLY in the US for 5 or more years, paid taxes and stayed out of troble then you should be able to apply for a green card. That gives you some hope that if I do such and such then one day I'd qualify for a green card. It also takes care of those that started counting as F1 then H1. It balances out everything.
The way it is now, there is no hope. Everything is uncertain. We are living uncertain lives. If we get sacked, we dont even know what step to take next. It is so dipressing and furstrating. Thats exactly what it is tempoary workers living TEMPOARY LIVES. Some are just waiting until 6 years H1 B expires and then .... yes and then what?? They dont even know. As it is most employers are unwillingly to sponsor GC. Why go through all the troubles??
Of course a lot of guys have gone ahea and gotten married just to get GC and which brings back the question... who is the system designed for? Those who struggle to abide by the law or those who take the short but fraudlent route. Your guess is as good as mine.
